Covenant of Membership
Scripture alone teaches that God has reconciled me, an unworthy sinner, to Himself by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone for the glory of God alone. Based on this work by God in my heart, I desire to enter into covenant with the Lord Jesus Christ and the community of His body at Christ Community Church. By God's enabling grace, I resolve and promise:
- To live my life as a follower of Jesus Christ, endeavoring to please God in all I do, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, pursuing a manner of life consistent with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God;
- To emphasize the importance of God's Word and prayer in my personal life, in my family, and in my fellowship with other believers;
- To attend as diligently as possible to the public worship of God with this church, recognizing the value and importance of fellowship with other believers;
- To share in the financial support of this church and its varied ministries by cheerfully, systematically, and proportionately contributing of my means as God supplies and directs;
- To pray regularly for the needs and ministries of this church;
- To serve the Lord willingly through this church with the abilities and time He provides, being involved in a specific ministry to the needs of others, working with other members in Christian love and graciousness, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace;
- To commit myself to responsibility for the lives of the other members of this fellowship, in helping to bring them to maturity in Christ, encouraging them in truth and love;
- To submit myself in Christ to the discipline and exhortation of this church;
- To be an ambassador for Christ, and in love proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all mankind, being concerned for their individual needs, both physical and spiritual;
- To accept the responsibilities of government in this church as provided in the Constitution and By-Laws, giving prayerful consideration to the Spirit's leading in decisions of the church and attending as diligently as possible to decision-making meetings of the fellowship; and
- To conscientiously seek the wisdom and counsel of other members of the Body before concluding any decision to dissolve this pledge and commitment of membership.
I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree with the Core Values and Distinctives of Christ Community Church and am committed, as unto God, to honor this covenant of membership.
