Haiti Mission Trip Family Fundraising Program

We will be launching our primary Haiti mission trip fundraising program on Sunday, April 5, 2009, during the morning worship service.  In prior years, we have held a church wide yard sale, BBQ dinner, silent auction, car wash, and other events. The Sow and Grow program will consolidate all of these prior fundraising programs in to one family oriented, church wide event. So if you have ever been involved in one of these events, or if you have ever purchased supplies for the team, we need your full support of Sow and Grow as we will have no other fundraisers this year for the Haiti mission trip.

The concept is to plant the seeds of cash and ideas with each person/family that in turn will create their own fundraising event to help grow and multiply the seeds of cash they received.

Sow and Grow will work as follows:

  • Envelopes will be prepared with varying amounts of cash (between $10 and $50).
  • The envelopes will also contain two cards:

-One card will be a list of project ideas
-One card will be used to return your fundraising monies back to the church.

  • During the offering on Sunday April 5th, baskets will be passed down each row containing the above mentioned envelopes. Each family may take one (or more) envelopes to use for their fundraising event (s). Adults 16 and over should be the only ones who take an envelope.
  • As you complete your fundraising events, return the monies and your event card to the church office (all monies should be returned by May 31, 2009).

The monies collected will be used to:

  • Pay for food, construction, and medical supplies
  • Pay for transportation and lodging
  • Pay for toothbrushes, vitamins, and other gifts for medical clinic patients and VBS participants
  • If excess funds are raised, they will be donated to the orphanage

The mission team will be involved with the following projects and activities:

  • Build a home for someone in the community who lost their home in last years flood.
  • Build and paint 50 additional eight foot long benches for the church. This will allow many, many more people to be seated during church services which is something Charles has desired for many years. The 30 benches we built during our December 2008 mission trip were a huge hit among the church members.
  • Conduct medical clinics each day providing medical care, needed drugs, and prayer support to approximately 1000 men, women, and children during the week.
  • Conduct afternoon VBS for the village children each day. This includes a bible lesson, a craft, games, a snack, and gifts.
  • We’ll paint anything and everything. There is always something to be painted in the compound. Given that the orphanage is planned to open in August, this will likely be our main focus during the week.

A table will be set up in the lobby following the March 29th and April 5th services to provide additional information and Linda Norton or Paul Snyder will be available to answer any questions you may have.

Please contact Paul Snyder at 910-471-9398 or Linda Norton at 910-620-7999 for additional information.
