KIDS ON MISSION

Kids on Mission is a ministry for Pre-K through 5th graders based on Jesus’s command in Matthew 35-40 to serve the least of these. The goal of this ministry is to teach what that kind of love and service looks like. We accomplish this in a variety of ways. First and foremost, love means sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and we’ve exposed the kids to this by bringing in various stories that provide them with biblical examples to serve the least of these.

But Kids of Mission is more than just learning about what love looks like, it is also about love and service in action. Kids at this age are often overlooked when it comes to the “action” part because they are young and inexperienced, but they are capable of so much! So, we pulled back the curtain and exposed them to a world outside of their comfort perhaps. A world full of people who needed to be loved and served.

We teach these lessons during the adult Equipping Nights and the following month we have a service project for families. Some of the projects we have done include talking about homelessness and transforming a storage room into a fully stocked playroom for the children who live at First Fruit Ministries. We discuss what it must feel like to be lonely and isolated, then make care bags for homebound widows, cook meals for those staying at the hospital’s family house and making blankets for newborn babies whose mothers are clients of Lifeline Pregnancy Center.

We meet monthly during the adult Equipping Nights at 6:30 p.m.

Check the weekly newsletter or monthly announcement sheets to find these meeting dates. Contact Sharon Radford for more information.
