HAITI

Charles Amicy was born in Cape Haitian, Haiti. He was raised (like most Haitians) in a Roman Catholic family that also practiced voodoo. Interestingly, even the Roman Catholic priests openly practiced voodoo often with voodoo emblems and symbols inside their cloaks. Attending school in Haiti is a privilege few people are able to afford because tuition must be paid to attend either public or private schools. But by the grace of God, Charles was able to attend school and graduate with a high school degree in his late twenties. Importantly, Charles was exposed to the Gospel and gave his life to Christ in his late teens. He attended a Baptist Church against the will of his parents. While attending this Baptist Church, he met an American missionary named Ann Klein. With Ann’s help, Charles did his seminary training in Greenville SC. When he returned to Haiti, he left his Baptist Church to fulfill his calling to plant reformed Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) churches throughout Haiti.

In eight short years, God has raised up five PCA churches and four Christian schools with over 1000 children in attendance. Charles works under the mission arm of PCA, Mission to the World. Christ Community Church is funding the construction of a much needed boys’ orphanage on the grounds of the first church and CCC is sending a mission team to work with Charles in June, 2007.
