Christ Community Church

Membership

Christ Community Church believes that church membership is an important part of our spiritual life. Those seeking to become members are expected to follow a few steps that will enrich your understanding of what being a Believer at Christ Community Church means.

Obviously visitors are encouraged to participate in the life of the church. This extends beyond the Sunday morning worship hour. Sunday School is an important learning experience that occurs each Sunday at 9:15 am. The second and fourth Wednesday night of each month we join together in prayer for the church body, church leadership, the country, and the community. We have an active community life program that includes small group meetings in the homes of CCC members.

The next step is to register and take the Inquirer’s class. These are offered three times a year and are a pre-requisite to membership at CCC. Led by Pastor Paul Phillips, these classes give a concise picture of Christ Community Church, its role in the community, the member’s role in the church and community, and the expectations of membership. It is an informal weekend marked by fellowship and learning.

Following the Inquirer’s weekend, each attendee should then take time to prayerfully consider if Christ Community Church is the right church for him/her. If an attendee decides, following the classes, to join, he/she should call the office and request a meeting with an elder.

The elder will then interview the candidate for membership. The candidate will share testimony with the elder and be instructed on his/her responsibilities as a member. The elder contacts the office following the interview as to the final decision for membership.

"New Member Sundays" occur shortly after the Inquirers' class. New members come forward and are confirmed by the church body.

Check the calendar or contact the office for information about how to join, or when the next new member Sunday is.

Also, families with children age 7-11 are encouraged to take the "communing members class."

The communing membership class is designed for children who are ready to take communion. It is an 8- week course taught by parents at home and covers the following basics: the Gospel, baptism, church membership and communion. Upon completion of the class there is an interview with you, your child and an Elder. Following the interview, your child be invited to stand before the church to make a profession of faith (guided by the pastor). Then he/she will be able to take communion.
